(Arthur explains all)

Cogs are like wheels with teeth. They can be used for turning corners and making things turn in different ways. Cogs also turn at different speeds. Small cogs turn quickly and big cogs turn slowly, as with wheels. So cogs can also be used for gears; on a bike for example.

You find cogs and gears everywhere. On cars, tin openers, watches, drills, canal locks, cranes and even egg whisks!

An egg whisk works a bit like a like a water wheel. You turn the handle (the water wheel) which turns the whisk (the grinding stone). It's as simple as that!
