identity1.jpg (22920 bytes) The Phoney War took place from September 1939 to April 1940.

Those six months were called the Phoney War, because the people of Britain had six months of peace.

British troops were sent to France but at first the Germans did not attack.

The people of France were very worried but nothing much happened until German troops invaded Norway in April 1940, then Belgium, Holland and France in May. This was the end of the Phoney War.

Soon The Battle of Britain was to begin.
