About the project
Thanks to a major award from the Heritage Lottery Fund, HyperAction is working with five primary schools across South Wales to create an interactive CD ROM which tells the stories of the Welsh lifeboat stations from Barry to Mumbles and presents the wider heritage of the coast
Children at each school will visit the lifeboat stations, meet the crew members, interview, listen to and record their stories, finding out as much as they can about the history of the Bristol Channel, an often neglected aspect of our local Welsh heritage. Then, with our guidance and support, they will re-tell these stories on an interactive CD ROM using appropriate multimedia technologies to animate, illustrate and recount the stories for an audience of their peers. We will even retell some modern tales of the sea in traditional ways by helping children compose and perform new sea shanties.
